Play therapy for children aged 5–10 and individual counselling for young people aged 11–17. Helping children and teenagers feel heard, understood and more themselves.
Children and young people experience the world intensely — and they often lack the words to explain what they’re feeling. Behaviour, mood changes and withdrawal are their language.
Children communicate through play. I use creative, play-based approaches — drawing, storytelling, sand tray, puppets — that allow children to express and process feelings naturally.
Teenagers often find it easier to open up to someone outside the family. I offer a genuinely non-judgmental space where young people can be honest about anything.
Excessive worry, panic, school refusal, separation anxiety, or a child who seems overwhelmed by everyday situations.
Withdrawal, tearfulness, loss of interest in things they used to enjoy, or a teenager who seems flat or disconnected.
Divorce or separation, a new sibling, bereavement, house or school moves — any change that has unsettled them.
Refusing school, being bullied, friendship problems, exam stress, or a sudden drop in performance or engagement.
Sudden anger, aggression, regression, or behaviour that feels out of character and doesn’t respond to usual strategies.
Low self-esteem, body image concerns, questions about identity — especially for Muslim young people navigating dual cultural worlds.
Muslim children and teenagers often face unique pressures — balancing their identity between home and school, navigating religious expectations while managing peer pressure.
As a Muslim counsellor, I understand these pressures first-hand. I offer a space that holds both worlds, without asking your child to choose between them.
A free 30-minute call — just you, without your child. We talk openly about what you’re noticing and what you hope therapy might provide.
A brief introductory meeting with your child before sessions begin — so they can see the space and meet me without any pressure.
Weekly 50-minute sessions. Routine helps children feel safe. I’ll provide brief parent updates after each session.
We review progress regularly. You’re always in the loop and always in control of next steps.
My son was struggling after we moved house and schools. After just a few play therapy sessions with Zaira, he was sleeping better and so much happier. The difference was remarkable.
My teenage daughter refused to see anyone for months. Zaira had her opening up in the first session. I don't know how she does it, but it works. She's truly gifted with young people.
We were worried about stigma as a Muslim family. Zaira immediately put us at ease — she understood our values and our daughter felt completely comfortable with her.
